  • Rhodium plating is a multi-step process that demands precision and care. Here’s what goes on behind the scenes:

    Step 1: Preparation

The jewellery must be meticulously cleaned to remove oils, dirt, or any surface residue. We use ultrasonic cleaning to reach even the tiniest crevices, followed by polishing or laser infilling to eliminate surface imperfections, which are essential for achieving a smooth, even coating.

    Step 2: Electroplating

Once prepped, your jewellery is immersed in a specially prepared solution containing rhodium salts. An electric current causes the rhodium particles to bond to the metal surface, forming a fine, uniform layer of rhodium. The longer the piece is in the bath, the thicker the coating.

Step 3: Final Rinse & Inspection

After plating, the item is rinsed with deionised water and thoroughly dried. Each piece is then inspected to ensure a clean, brilliant finish before it's returned to you.

  • White gold, despite its name, has a naturally warm hue due to its gold content. Rhodium plating gives it a crisp, icy-white finish that has become so desirable. Silver, meanwhile, tends to tarnish over time. Rhodium plating not only revives its shine but also protects it from future oxidation and wear.

Whether for aesthetic or practical reasons, rhodium plating helps your jewellery stay brilliant and durable for longer.

  • While Rhodium itself doesn’t tarnish—it's resistant to corrosion and oxidation—the plating is a surface treatment and will gradually wear away, especially on frequently worn items like rings. When this happens, the underlying metal may begin to dull or tarnish. Replating every couple of years can keep your jewellery looking fresh and radiant.

  • Pricing depends on several factors, including the size and shape of the piece, surface area, complexity of the design, and any necessary cleaning or repairs that may be required beforehand. Larger or more intricate items may require more Rhodium and labour, which can affect the cost.

  • Rhodium is a member of the platinum family and is known for its unmatched reflectivity and resistance to corrosion. It’s one of the rarest and most valuable metals on Earth—prized not only for its beauty but also for its strength and longevity.
